Sony Will Bring Movies To Netflix Including Uncharted And Spider-Man

Netflix has purchased an exclusive right to stream Sony movies, which means we will stream Uncharted and Spider-Man on that  platform.

US media reported yesterday that Netflix has secured a partnership with Sony Pictures, worth close to 1 billion US dollars. With this partnership, they bought from Netflix the exclusive right to stream Sony movies after they ceased to air in theaters. The deal is reportedly valid for five years, starting in 2022.

This means we'll be watching upcoming Sony movies, like Uncharted and Spider-Man: No Way Home, on Netflix 3-4 months from their premieres. Older films from Sony's catalogue will also appear on Netflix.

Of course, the reason Sony chose Netflix and entered into this partnership is because unlike Dinsey or Warner Bros. it doesn't have its own streaming platform. In any case, this is interesting news because Sony plans to adapt a number of its franchises from the world of video games to movies and series in the future.

As it stands now, Netflix is entitled solely to Sony movies, not series, and if their deal really lasts until 2027, ghost of Tsushima and other adaptations of Sony's games will be watched on Netflix.
