As such, it links the brand's electrified future to John Cooper works' rich racing history. The car was created from the new MINI Cooper SE as part of a collaboration between MINI Design, BMW Motorsport, FIA and Formula E.

"We've already shown that driving fun and electric mobility go along with MINI Electric," says Bernd Körber, head of the MINI brand. "However, the JCW-inspired MINI Electric Pacesetter goes at least a step further and combines the performance character of the John Cooper Works brand with electric mobility.

This extreme version of MINI Electric was developed as a safety car for formula E, so it is clearly not intended for use on public roads. But it reveals one of the directions we could take by electrifying the JCW markings. For me, the message is clear: electrification and John Cooper Works fit well. ”
