Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition Becomes The Most Demanding PC Game

The post-apocalyptic Metro Exodus shooter will get its advanced release next month – to start on PC and later on current generation consoles.

SC/Metro Exodus: Enhanced
Whoever managed to grab the cards with support for raytracing effects before the prices of them went to heaven will have a real treat next week as the hardware's most demanding PC game arrives. It's not a new game, it's an improved edition of the excellent Metro Exodus shooter, which from 6.5. will be free to all PC owners on Steam, Epic Games Store or GOG.

Versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S will be available a little later in 2021.

Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition brings a whole range of new effects, 4K textures, support for DirectX 12 Ultimate, DLSS 2.0 and more. Unlike the previous version which also had raytracing support, this one seems likely to be much brighter, in response to complaints from players that raytracing in the original has unnecessarily dimmed the game.

You can see the demonstration and comparison of Metro Exodus: Enhanced Edition with the original game in a detailed view of Digital Foundry.

Now, the question is, who can run it? Interestingly, Metro Exodus Enhanced becomes one of the first games that can not be started without raytracing effects, i.e. on gtx series video cards and older Radeons. Minimum game requires RTX 2060, and if you want to enjoy the greatest graphic grandeur the game has to offer – you'll need the RTX 3090.
