DJI Unveils the New Drone Air 2S

IC: DJI
DJI Air 2S is the latest version of a medium-sized drone that is equipped with a camera. The meaning of the letter "S" in the name is unknown, but the Air 2S drone definitely looks like a light facelift of the previous model. The design is almost identical, featuring several more elegancous lines, and there are two additional front cameras to avoid obstacles.

In the case of the new model, the most important is the camera because the Air 2S has received a larger sensor that can take photos up to 20 MP or record 5.4K video at 30fps, or 4K video at 60 fps and 150Mbps. All of this seems to be a solid progress when working from 12 MP photos and 4K video at 60 fps or 120Mbps.

The camera has the ability to zoom 4x digitally, and there is a 6 and 8x zoom option. Also, DJI Air 2S supports three color profiles, namely Normal (8 bit), D-Log (10 bit) and HLG (10 bit).

The drone weighs 595 gammas, which means it is a little heavier than its predecessor (570 grams), and this was reflected in the reduction in flight duration from 33 to 31 minutes.

All four obstacle avoidance sensors have been improved, and the new two cameras can detect objects over a longer distance and much faster. There is also a new O3 technology that theoretically allows the drone to move 12 kilometers away, which means that the video connection is more stable. The drone also has smart flight modes such as Spotlight 2.0, AcriveTrack 4.0 and Point of Interest 3.0.

MasterShot option is also interesting and combines pre-programmed flight paths with smart automatic editing.

Sales have already begun, and the DJI Air 2S drone costs $999. The Fly More package includes three batteries, a charging dock, ND filters and a bag and costs $1,299.
