Development of Canon EOS R3 Premium Full-Frame Camera without Mirrors Announced

IC: CANON
Canon revealed the first details of his high-end EOS R3 full-frame camera without a mirror.

The R3 has a dual-flu design and will be able to take up to 30 images per second with full AF, but is not marked as the successor to the EOS-1D series of sports DSLRs.

Relatively small details have been revealed, but Canon says the R3 will be built around stacked CMOS sensors – a new generation. The sensor will continue Canon's Dual Pixel AF design. The speed of this chip provides the potential for fast burst recording, and the result is reduced rolling.

R3 will also offer AF for eye control, which uses the position of the photographer's eye to select the starting position for the autofocus or object tracking. Canon also claims that the camera object recognition system will be able to recognize a wider range of subjects during AF tracking of R5 and R6.

The EOS R3 features double posture and weather resistance and dust 'equivalent to that of an EOS-1D class camera'.

No details on price or availability have yet been provided, but it is certain that EOS R3 will be available (at least to some professionals) in time for the Tokyo Olympics this summer.

The new generation dual Pixel CMOS automatic focus of the EOS R3 can track the eyes, heads and bodies of high-speed subjects. It is ideal for recording even the smallest details in a split second.

Canon reveals that it will only add a new subject to the autofood tracking of that camera (which will only be presented in detail later).

The EOS R3 will be adorned with new and improved technology first seen at Canon's EOS 5 camera. It is the first EOS digital camera to offer a new generation of photographers revolutionary Eye Control technology that allows users to easily select and move the point of automatic eye focus through the view center.

This intuitive characteristic offers professionals a natural and fast auto-focus control. Shortening focus time, which is usually done through a multifunction controller or button. This characteristic is again perfect for photographers who want to record the most important subject for the shot in an instant. For example, during a press conference or by photographering a team sport.

The IEOS R3 model case is inspired by the EOS-1D series and provides particularly intuitive control in the most challenging professional situations.

Professionals can expect the same durability and resistance to dust and moisture as the legendary Canon housing from the EOS-1 series offered.

The camera also has an integrated holder, which was loved and trusted by model users in the EOS-1D series.

With EOS R3, professionals will be sure they can continue recording regardless of the conditions. Whether it's with the sports field or the pool, indoors or outdoors, on the snow or illuminated by bright sunlight.

The EOS R3 will be fully compatible with Canon's Mobile File Transfer smartphone app. It represents a new way to transfer images and speed up the flow of work on the go with mobile network services and without the need for wired LAN equipment.

Canon will introduce version 1.2 of its Mobile File Transfer app for iOS in June through the Apple App Store. It will be compatible with Canon's EOS-1D X Mark III, EOS R5 and EOS R6 models. Support for Android is also predicted soon.

Today, Canon also presents the RF 100mm F2.8L MACRO IS USM – an impressive lens for macros and portraits and the first AF macro lens with a close increase of 1.4x[iii].

In addition, Canon published details of the new RF 400mm F2.8L IS USM and RF 600mm F4L IS USM lenses. These are two telephoto primary lenses designed to meet the needs of professional cinematographers of sporting events and animals in nature with outstanding focal lengths and abilities, especially in combination with the EOS R3 camera.
